Time to add warmth with a touch of glam: Rocky Horror and a fitting room fit for royalty
I haven’t historically gotten super into Halloween but a campy fantasy romp on Saturday at this holy-hell-time-to-be alive please and thank you YES. The 1975 Rocky Horror Picture Show at the nearly 100-year-old Mount Baker Theater in Bellingham was fab and punched up with live actors performing on stage. And the audience came to SLAY. Costumes, props, shouting, singing and my favorite - the flinging of toast. I live to fling.
We hit the thrifts a couple hours before showtime and managed to pull off a version of the characters Columbia and Eddie. Sequins, leather, glitter, too-small leopard tops - is this the start of my costume era? It's at least a sign to heap on the sparkle as we enter the holiday season.

Sunday, we ventured into a repair/reuse outdoor gear shop called Madrona Wear that recently expanded into the Old Town ‘hood of the ‘Ham. Old buildings and vintage outdoor gear together is my jam-a-lam. Anyhoo they’re making great use of the space with a sewing repair shop in one building that opens into the other offering a well-presented array of clothes and gear. We’re talking about this though because of the changing rooms and bathroom. Playful, whimsy, unexpected awesomeness that reminds us - inspiration is everywhere and every space presents an opportunity.

Check out this warm changing room leaning into the oranges and pinks. The heavy, cozy rug grounds the high-ceiling space. The framed art and hanging blanket (with texture to balance the brick) and seats with character complete with a live plant together create a glow that will make you look like a human who is alive when you try on a vintage Patagonia fleece! Compare it to any basic, boring, sterile, cold dressing room. Do you look good in there, ever? This space just guarantees a better experience.
On to the bath. Quirky child-like delight is the vibe with a unicorn and a pixie/fairy mural on dark walls with a concrete sink area. The mural gets to shine while a vintage wood mirror brings contrast and warmth. Do you want to bring more joy into a blah space, especially in these dark fall/winter months? The inspo is all around and I'm here to help.

Finally, thanks! Because after showing some vintage finds in my last post, many sold and are off to places including Austin, Texas, and Portland, Oregon. Additionally a vintage Dolly Parton songbook I acquired at an estate sale is headed to New York City.

As we get into the holiday hosting, gift-giving months, I'll post more vintage goodies including these warm-themed pinkish pretty things pictured below. Check out the listings on ebay and buy ‘em there or claim them by text or comment below. We're also selling a beauty of a Drexel Heritage midcentury faux bamboo burl wood side table that will instantly warm up and level up any space.
